The main function of the ribosome is protein synthesis. They are either found freely in the cytoplasm of the cell or they are found attached to the endoplasmic reticulum. Ribosomes are made from complexes of RNA's and proteins and is therefore a a ribonucleic protein. The primary functions of Ribosomes is to read and to translate the cell's genetic code, then reproduce
(replicate) the proteins that the code represents. Without the Ribosomes this coded message could not read or be replicated. Without the replication, the cells would simply age and die, and the organism would be would die with them. The importance of the ribosomes is that deep down on a cellular level ribosomes are important because they have a huge part in changing the messenger RNA to DNA. The ribosomes main job is to produce the proteins that are needed for your body to survive. Also they are important because this is where proteins are synthesized. Proteins are very important for carrying out the bodies functions from digesting food to the color of our hair.
